Shy Boy
As a Boy
I was shy
Don't really
Know why.
I missed out
On so
Much joy.
I was led
By my fears
Kept myself
Indoors,
Pacing Floors.
Lost in
My tears.
At times
I was aware
That I could
Be happy, if
Only I'd dare.
Sometimes I
Didn't seem
To care.
As I
Got older,
When I was
Bolder,
I found
Love,
Gave it
A shove,
Sent it
Away,
Begged it
To stay,
Wished for
Another day.
As I
Grew bitter,
I missed
All the glitter,
Flitter,
Dreams
And schemes.
I was alone,
And the fault
Was my own.
I was a fool,
I kept to
Myself.
I kept the
Best of myself
On the shelf.
If you do
Not learn,
By your mistakes
You will burn.
For love
Of others,
And love
Of self,
Go together
Like
Hand and glove.
So learn,
Don't burn
Learn to
Love "me,"
And be
Free
To love
Sisters, brothers,
And all others.
You must,
In yourself trust,
Give yourself
A shove,
And learn
To love!
